What are implants?

Implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium that are surgically placed into the jawbone. The implant screw serves as an anchor for crowns or bridges.

4-STEP PROCESS

1. CONSULTATION

Complimentary exam which includes comprehensive assessment of dental implant placement, X-rays including 3D CT scan, and personalized treatment options.

2. SURGERY

The titanium implant is surgically placed into the jawbone using local anesthetic. Dr. Habib performs flapless surgery, which does not require any incisions or stitching of the gums and allows for less swelling and faster healing. Depending on the diagnosis, we offer immediate implant placement at the time of the extraction. At this point, a temporary restoration may be provided, especially if you are replacing a tooth that’s visible in your smile.

3. IMPRESSION

Impressions are done three months after the surgery when the implant is fully integrated into the bone. This includes taking a mold of the surrounding structures in order to create a customized crown or bridge that captures the exact dimensions and contours necessary for a precise fitting. At this time, we will choose the shade and go over desired esthetics for the permanent restoration.

4. INSERTION

The abutment and crown are inserted two weeks following the impression. The abutment, which connects the crown to the implant, is screwed in. This serves as the support for the crown which is then cemented or screwed onto the abutment, depending on the patient and tooth structure.
